Diesel SpA is an Italian fashion company founded in 1978 by Renzo Rosso and Adriano Goldschmied in Breganze, Veneto, Italy. The brand name was chosen for its cross-language ease of pronunciation. Renzo Rosso acquired sole ownership in 1985. Diesel operates in men's and women's ready-to-wear, denim, accessories, footwear, fragrance, eyewear, watches, and kidswear. The first flagship retail store opened in 1996 on Lexington Avenue, New York. By 2012, the company generated €1.5 billion in annual revenue across 5,000+ points of sale in 80 countries, employing approximately 3,000 people globally.
