OTB Group (Only The Brave S.p.A.) is an Italian multinational luxury fashion holding company headquartered in Breganze, Veneto, founded in 2002 by Renzo Rosso. Rosso had acquired complete control of Diesel in 1985 and built it into a global denim and streetwear brand before creating OTB as a holding vehicle for Diesel and future acquisitions. The group's investment mandate has been to acquire financially struggling but creatively compelling fashion houses - Maison Margiela (2002), Viktor & Rolf (2008), Marni (2012), Amiri (2019), and Jil Sander (2021). In 2023, OTB recorded annual revenue of €1.9 billion, a 10% increase over the prior year. Ubaldo Minelli has served as group CEO since 2017. In June 2025, OTB opened its first legal entity in Mexico City as the initial step of a Latin American expansion.
Renzo Rosso (founder) established OTB's creative portfolio strategy as an investment philosophy: acquire financially distressed houses with strong creative identity. Ubaldo Minelli serves as group CEO (since 2017). Individual brand creative directions are led by brand-level designers; as of the source date, no group-level creative direction is documented beyond Rosso's acquisition and brand stewardship role. Staff International handles production and logistics across the portfolio, enabling the group to maintain design-led brand autonomy backed by shared manufacturing infrastructure.
Diesel - global premium denim and streetwear brand; founded 1978 (pre-OTB); jeans, casual clothing, footwear, accessories, fragrance; denim surface treatment and graphic identity as primary brand language
Maison Margiela - French luxury fashion house; acquired by OTB 2002; deconstructivist approach, conceptual fashion, Artisanal atelier line; Tabi split-toe shoe as signature silhouette
Marni - Italian luxury fashion; acquired 2012; founded by Consuelo Castiglioni 1994; known for bold, pattern-intensive aesthetic - botanical, abstract, collage print, large-scale graphic motifs; one of the most visually distinctive print-led luxury brands globally
Jil Sander - German minimalist luxury; acquired 2021; founded by Jil Sander 1968; monochrome, highly refined material quality, minimal surface decoration as deliberate aesthetic statement
Viktor & Rolf - Dutch luxury fashion house (Amsterdam); acquired 2008; known for conceptual and theatrical fashion; dramatic use of surface embellishment including crystal, volume, and structural manipulation
AMIRI - American luxury streetwear; acquired 2019; founded by Mike Amiri; crystal-embellished denim, distressed luxury surfaces, rock-influenced aesthetic
Staff International - fashion production, logistics, and marketing company; infrastructure for OTB portfolio production and commercial operations
Brave Kid - licensed children's clothing and accessories under Diesel, Marni, John Galliano, Dsquared², N21, and Trussardi licences
Frassineti - leather goods manufacturer (majority stake 2023); long-term Jil Sander supplier; brings leather production into the group's vertical manufacturing capability
OTB Group operates through individual brand retail channels - mono-brand boutiques, department store wholesale, and brand e-commerce platforms. Brave Kid manages licensed children's clothing under six premium brand licences (Diesel, Marni, John Galliano, Dsquared², N21, Trussardi), generating licensing revenue from the group's brand portfolio without requiring direct children's production infrastructure. The Frassineti acquisition (2023) signals movement toward vertical integration in leather goods supply for Jil Sander. The Mexico City entity (June 2025) represents the group's first direct Latin American operation, aligned with Diesel's and Marni's existing retail presence in the region. OTB Foundation (2008) is the group's independent nonprofit arm for sustainable development projects.
OTB Group competes in the luxury and premium fashion holding company sector - the same competitive tier as Kering, Richemont, and LVMH, but at a smaller scale and with a distinctly independent, creative-risk-tolerant positioning. Rosso's acquisition strategy has targeted brands that are critically acclaimed but financially distressed - Margiela and Viktor & Rolf being the clearest examples of houses with outsized cultural influence and limited commercial infrastructure. The portfolio is deliberately diverse in aesthetic and market register: Diesel occupies premium denim and streetwear; Maison Margiela and Jil Sander occupy conceptual and minimal luxury; Marni operates in print-intensive maximalist luxury; Viktor & Rolf in couture spectacle; AMIRI in luxury streetwear with embellishment. This portfolio breadth positions OTB as a vehicle for avant-garde fashion culture as much as commercial luxury.
OTB Group contains one of the most concentrated collections of pattern-intensive and surface-design-significant brands in the luxury sector.
Marni is the group's most directly SPD-relevant brand. Founded by Consuelo Castiglioni and recognised for a distinctive aesthetic that combines bold botanical prints, abstract large-scale motifs, collage compositions, and unexpected colour pairings, Marni is one of the most visually referenced print-forward luxury fashion brands internationally. Marni's pattern language - exuberant, intellectually playful, never simply decorative - has influenced surface pattern direction in womenswear, accessories, and home categories well beyond the brand itself.
Viktor & Rolf work in fashion as conceptual spectacle, using surface embellishment - crystal application, structural manipulation, floral volume - as the medium of statement. Their Swarovski crystal surface work (Atelier Swarovski collaborations) is documented in related company records. The boundary between fashion and surface sculpture is central to their practice.
Diesel built its brand on denim surface treatment as design language - wash, distress, rip, embellishment - and on graphic identity applied aggressively to product surfaces. The Diesel "Dirty" advertising era and subsequent graphic directions established a distinctive visual surface identity for the brand.
Maison Margiela operates a philosophy of anti-fashion surface statement: the white label sewn in at four corners; the Tabi shoe silhouette as a surface-of-the-foot redesign; Artisanal reconstructed garments where the making-visible of construction is the surface design. Margiela's influence on how fashion conceptualises surface decoration is profound and well-documented.
Jil Sander represents the discipline of surface elimination as design choice: material quality, proportion, and colour as the only surface design vocabulary. The acquisition of Frassineti (Jil Sander's leather manufacturer) brings the material surface of leather goods directly into the group's production.
AMIRI applies crystal embellishment, distressed denim treatments, and luxury patina effects to sportswear-influenced silhouettes - a surface decoration language combining high-craft embellishment with streetwear material references.
