Baptiste Vandaele is a Paris-based independent designer working across wallpaper, textile, ceramic tile, and illustration, primarily for the hospitality interior sector. Since 2017 he has maintained an ongoing relationship with hotel brand Mama Shelter, producing bespoke surface design for properties across Europe - floor carpets, wallpaper, lobby mosaics, and window medallions. He is based in Aubervilliers, co-founder of tableware brand Burning For, and a resident of Villa Mais d'Ici.

Vandaele's practice is characterised by organic, nature-driven compositions - forests, botanicals, lichens, roots - combined with site-specific architectural and cultural references tailored to each project location. His geometric work includes sinuous interlocking motifs (Méandre for Tissage Moutet), azulejo-inspired patchwork compositions (Mama Shelter Lisbonne), and narrative-led pattern suites that reference each hotel's regional context.

Drawing-based practice: sketched and pencil-drawn compositions adapted for wallpaper, woven jacquard, cement tile, carpet (tuft loop and tuft velours), mosaic, and straw marquetry. Works closely with manufacturers to translate drawings into substrate-specific production.
