Sue Gent is a Somerset-based illustrator, designer, and lecturer whose work spans editorial illustration, surface pattern, and publishing. She has an established client base including the National Trust, English Heritage, BBC History, BBC Countryfile, BBC Wildlife, Waitrose, and SAGA magazine. She also lectures in Illustration at the University of the West of England, Bristol.

Gent's work draws from nature, history, folklore, and mythology. Her visual references span medieval woodcuts and illuminated manuscripts, 1960s poster art, Indian matchbox design, Art Nouveau, and Japanese woodblocks - a synthesis that produces illustration with a graphic-historical character. The portfolio features bold figurative and nature compositions with decorative edge and a controlled palette suited to both editorial and surface pattern applications.

Gent works in a combined traditional and digital process: hand-drawing with pencil, ink, and brush, then adding colour digitally. Gent holds a first-class honours degree in Art and Visual Culture from UWE Bristol. Prior to her illustration career she worked in film - producing Radiohead's multi-award-winning 'There, There' music video and working with Bolexbrothers and Collision Films on animated short films. She now combines freelance illustration with lecturing at UWE Bristol.
